BAHIA HONDA STATE PARK  

Bahia Honda State Park

Well worth the 45 minute drive from Key West, Bahia Honda State Park boasts one of the best beaches in the country.  The crystal clear shallow waters take you miles away.  There are fresh water showers, a concession stand and beautiful nature trails through the mangroves.  A trip to the Keys MUST include a stop here!  small entrance fee.

FORT ZACHARY TAYLOR STATE PARK  

Ft. Zachary Taylor State Park beach in Key West is 67 acres of pristine beach and forest.  A perfect destination for a bike ride or relaxing walk.  Bring your aqua shoes because there is crushed coral everywhere.  The turqoise warm waters are great for swimming and snorkeling.  There are showers, a concession stand and beach chair rentals available.  This is the locals favorite beach.  small entrance fee.
SMATHER'S BEACH KEY WEST  
Smathers Beach - Key West Smathers Beach is Key West's largest public beach.  Spend the day soaking in the rays on this 1 mile stretch of fine sand beach.  Bring aqua shoes if you plan on swimming.  There are food and beverage vendors, volleyball courts, showers and bathrooms.  You can rent beach chairs, windsurfers, jet skis, kayaks and umbrellas at several locations along the beach.  FREE
HIGGS BEACH KEY WEST  
Higgs Beach in Old Town Key West is a favorite hangout for locals.  Although it is probably not the best swimming beach on the island, it has all the other nostalgic charm of a laid back Key West setting.  There are beach chair and umbrella rentals available. There is also a bar and restaurant on the beach, volleyball courts, grills for cookouts, famous sunning pier and free tennis courts. FREE
DOGGIE BEACH KEY WEST  
That's right - a beach for Humans and Dogs.  This tiny beach next to Louie's Backyard restaurant is a great place to bring Fido and take a swim.  The sandy bottom and clear waters make for a great afternoon of Key West fun.  Just watch where you step in the sand!  FREE
SUNSET KEY BEACH  
Unless your a guest at Sunset Key or the Hilton, this private island beach is off limits.  This doesn't mean that you cannot have lunch at the neighboring Latitudes Restaurant and feel like you're at the beach.  The launch to the island is free if you are having lunch, which by the way, is excellent.
